Gansey Project
A Gansey is a seaman's knitted woollen sweater that originated in the Channel Islands but were also known to exist in other fishing villages throughout the UK. I became particularly interested in fishing folklore while living in Cornwall/Devon and really immersed myself in the history of these magical sweaters which carry unique patterns depending on which village they originated from. This little handmade book was an illustrated field guide that I made for Selvedge Magazine which led on to other research and creative projects.
